Pathways and Graduation

Helping each learner get to where they want to be and prepare for life.

      Providing pathways to limitless possibilities.

We know that no two learners are the same, and neither are their futures. Some dream of university, others of starting a project, joining a creative industry, travelling, or building skills through real-world experience.

Our pathways programme exists to support learners in turning those ideas into clear, realistic next steps with guidance, structure and trust.

Rather than asking learners to fit into a single predefined route, we help them design a pathway that makes sense for who they are, what they care about, and where they want to go.

Watch the video below to learn more about our pathways programme.

How we help learners get to where they want to go

Our pathways programme supports learners from exploration through to graduation. We help learners:

      • Clarify their interests, strengths and motivations
      • Explore different post-Learnlife options (university, gap years, creative paths, entrepreneurship, vocational routes and more)
      • Build a strong personal portfolio that reflects who they are and how they learn
      • Receive one-to-one guidance from learning guides who know them well
      • Prepare applications, interviews and transitions with confidence

Most importantly, learners are not rushed into decisions. They are supported to make thoughtful, informed choices at a pace that respects their development.

Pathways is not about “deciding early”. It’s about feeling ready.

The difference between Learnlife's pathways programme and traditional university and careers guidance

In many schools, pathways are defined by grades, subjects and standardised benchmarks. At Learnlife, we start somewhere else: with the learner.

      Traditional schools Learnlife

Prescriptive learning: A fixed curriculum defines what learners study, when they study it, and how success is measured — leaving little room for individual interests or pace.

Personal learning: There is no single “correct” pathway. Each learner’s journey is shaped around their goals, curiosities, strengths, and evolving interests.

Grade-driven: Progress is reduced to marks, exams, and external validation, often prioritising performance over understanding.

Competency-driven, portfolio-based: Learners demonstrate growth through real projects, reflections, experiences, and the competencies they build over time, not one-off tests.
Transactional relationships: Learning is structured around instructions, compliance, and assessment, rather than trust or dialogue. Guided learning: Learning is centred on a strong, ongoing relationship with a trusted mentor who supports reflection, challenge, and growth.
Focused on ranking: Comparison is built into the system, with learners measured against one another through scores and standings. Focused on readiness: Rather than ranking learners, we prioritise self-awareness, motivation, agency, and the ability to navigate real-world challenges.
Our approach helps learners leave Learnlife not only with options but with a clear sense of direction and self-belief.

Yet, while our approach prioritises personal learning over standardised exams, we fully support learners who need external qualifications for their chosen path. We offer Advanced Placement courses, help learners understand how and when to apply for exams like the SATs, and support learners taking national exams such as the EBAU (formerly Selectividad, Spain’s university entrance exams).

What qualifications do Learnlife graduates receive?

Our Urban Hub is an accredited international school in Barcelona.

Upon completing our secondary programme, learners receive the American High School Diploma and can also validate their learning to receive the ESO. Learners can choose to study Advanced Placement courses with us to gain extra credits and meet specific university entry requirements.

Our Village Hub in Sant Pere de Ribes/Sitges has provisional accreditation, with full accreditation expected before Summer 2027. But, like our Urban Hub before it was accredited, this doesn't stop our graduates from progressing to outstanding destinations.

What pathways can Learnlife graduates progress to?

      Learnlife graduates can progress to:

      • Spanish public or private university (ESO, Bachillerato and EBAU required)
      • US/Canada or international universities (Advanced Placements may be required)
      • Entrepreneurial pathways, employment, and work and study programmes
      • Gap year and experiential pathways

What sets our learners apart from other graduates when building their applications is their level of life-readiness. Simply put, our graduates can demonstrate to universities and employers that they have the critical skills needed for the modern world by showing their personal portfolios and Learning Vitae, and real-world projects and experience.
