    Why this role matters

    As a Middle Years Learning Guide, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing transformative learning experiences. Collaborating with our team of learning guides, you will co-create the Middle Years Program that nurtures a love for learning and equip students with essential skills for success. Additionally, you will help us deepen our model’s integration of literacy across all programs. 

    Responsibilities

    • Lead Program Design: Co-design and lead a comprehensive program for 12 to 14-year-olds, integrating literacy, numeracy, and transdisciplinary learning experiences. Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop innovative, student-centered curriculum.
    • Learning Space Development: Oversee the design and development of engaging learning environments tailored to the needs of middle years learners.
    • Literacy Programming: Design and execute literacy programs that foster critical thinking and creativity.
    • Parent Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with parents, providing regular updates on student progress and program developments.
    • Training and Coaching: Train and coach fellow learning guides to effectively implement literacy strategies and facilitate engaging learning experiences.
    • Collaborative Teamwork: Work collaboratively within a cross-functional, agile team to develop and refine learning experiences. Participate in training sessions and coaching to support continuous professional growth.

    Required skills and experience

    • Educational Expertise: 7+ years of experience working with 12 to 14-year-olds in innovative learning environments. Demonstrated ability to connect with students and build trusting relationships.
    • Program Leadership: 3+ years of experience leading educational programs or teams, with a strong understanding of scalability and implementation.
    • Literacy Specialization: Experience developing and delivering non-traditional literacy programs, with a focus on fostering a love for reading, writing, and critical literacy skills.
    • Language Proficiency: C2 level of English proficiency, with preference given to candidates proficient in Spanish or other relevant languages.
    • Innovative Mindset: Capacity to draw from a wide range of learning methodologies and adapt them to meet the needs of diverse learners.
    • Agile Collaboration: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, embracing failure as an opportunity for growth and iteration.
